Knurled Fin - A sophisticated interference fit type fin, featuring mechanical knurling of the fin material to the tube wall surface for enhanced performance.
LL Fin - The Double Overlap fin (the double LL) provides comprehensive double strip thickness coverage of the entire base tube.
Perforated L Fin - This enhancement introduces 'tear drop' slits around the helix, ingeniously breaking up air flow for optimal efficiency.

L-Foot Fin / Wrap-On Fin

L-Foot Tension Wound Finned Tubes also known as Wrap-On Finned Tubes, are expertly utilized in low-temperature applications where temperatures do not exceed about 300 degrees Fahrenheit, providing essential tube wall protection. L-Foot tension wound finned tubes feature a thin aluminium fin strip meticulously and tightly wound helically around the tube circumference. A 'foot' is initially formed on one side of the fin strip, giving rise to the term L-Foot. Subsequently, the strip is wound tightly around the tube, with the foot making solid contact with the tube's outer surface. The short horizontal limb of each L remains in constant contact with the base-tube surface, ensuring full coverage. The tension in the fin strip, as it is wrapped around the tube, effectively seats the fin foot with force on the tube, securely holding the fin in place. L-footed finned tubing delivers maximum heat transfer efficiency at lower temperatures. Its distinct L-shaped design holds the fins firmly in place, expertly withstanding both heat cycling and high-velocity air vibration. This fin design also offers a degree of atmospheric protection for the tube wall against corrosion. The extensive contact surface between the tube and the finning significantly enhances heat transfer. This innovative fin design is not only highly efficient but also cost-effective.
 
To prevent the aluminium fin from unraveling and losing contact between the fin foot and the tube, the ends of the fins are stapled securely. This component is essential for optimal air cooler performance, facilitating efficient heat transfer from the tube wall to ambient air through the fin.

KL Footed Fin / Knurled L Footed Fin

The KL fin is also referred to as the knurled L fin. This finned tube is akin to the Wrap-On fin, crafted using both Wrap-On and Embedded techniques for enhanced durability. Fins are fabricated from strips shaped into an L profile, then rolled to form a taper, naturally curling during processing. They are helically wound onto the tube in a continuous loop under tension for a secure fit. The fin embraces the tube intimately, ensuring firm contact. A spinning tool knurls the base tube, integrating the fin's foot into the knurling for a tight bond and superior thermal performance.
 
When the correct fin strip is used, the foot of each fin neatly abuts the next, eliminating gaps. This design significantly enhances the tube's resistance to corrosion. Fins are secured at each end, similar to L fins, preventing unwinding. KL-Foot tension wound finned tubes are typically used in metal applications due to their robustness. Capable of operating at temperatures up to 320°C (608°F), ensuring high performance under stress.

Often used as a cost-effective alternative to expensive extruded type fins in corrosive environments.
