The short horizontal limb of each L is in full contact with the base-tube surface, ensuring complete coverage. Tension in the fin strip during wrapping ensures the fin foot is forcefully seated on the tube, maintaining a secure hold. KL Footed Fin / Knurled L Footed Fin
The KL fin is alternatively referred to as the knurled L fin. This innovative finned tube mirrors the Wrap-On fin, crafted using both Wrap-On and Embedded methods. The fins are meticulously cut from strips fashioned into an L shape akin to the L type, then skillfully rolled into a taper that encourages curling. Subsequently, it is helically wound around the tube in a seamless loop under tension. The fin envelops the tube with a firm embrace. A precision spinning tool knurls the base tube, seamlessly integrating the fin's foot with the knurled base, ensuring a secure bond and heightened thermal efficiency.
With the correct fin strip employed, one fin seamlessly integrates with the next, eliminating any gaps between them. This protective measure significantly shields the tube from corrosion. In a manner akin to L fins, the fins are anchored at each end to prevent unwinding. In metal-related applications, KL-Foot tension wound finned tubes are frequently utilized. Capable of withstanding a maximum operating temperature of 320°C (608°F).

In environments where corrosion is a concern, this innovative tube design emerges as a cost-effective alternative to the pricier extruded-type fins, offering robust performance and reliability.
