L-Foot Finned Tube

The L-Foot Finned Tube is available in the following innovative fin variations:
Knurled Fin - Features an interference fit with mechanical knurling of the fin material to the tube wall surface, enhancing performance.
LL Fin - Double Overlap fin (the double LL) offers complete double-thickness coverage of the base tube.
Perforated L Fin - This innovative design enhances the fin face with "tear drop" slits around the helix, effectively disrupting airflow for improved efficiency.

L-Foot Fin / Wrap-On Fin

L-Foot Tension Wound Finned Tubes commonly known as Wrap-On Finned Tubes, are engineered for applications where temperatures remain below approximately 300 degrees Fahrenheit, providing low-temperature application solutions and some tube wall protection. L-Foot tension wound finned tubes are composed of a thin aluminum fin strip, meticulously wound helically around the tube's circumference with precision. A "foot" is expertly formed on one side of the fin strip, giving rise to the L-Foot name. The strip is then tightly wound around the tube, with the foot resting securely on the tube's outer surface. The short horizontal limb of each L maintains full contact with the base-tube surface, ensuring complete coverage. Tension in the fin strip, as it is tightly wrapped, ensures the fin foot is seated with strength on the tube and held firmly in place. L-footed finned tubing is designed to offer maximum heat transfer at reduced temperatures. The unique L-shaped configuration holds fins in place, resilient against heat cycling and high-velocity air movement. This fin not only optimizes heat transfer but also offers a degree of atmospheric protection against tube wall corrosion. The extensive contact surface between the tube and finning significantly enhances heat conductivity. This fin design is both highly efficient and cost-effective, a testament to superior engineering.
The ends of the fins are securely stapled to prevent the aluminum fin from unraveling, ensuring consistent contact between the fin foot and the tube. Crafted from strips shaped into an L form comparable to the conventional L type, the fins are then rolled into a taper that encourages curling. The fin is helically wound onto the tube in a continuous loop under tension, ensuring a firm and secure fit. The fin embraces the tube, providing excellent thermal conduction. Utilizing a spinning tool, the base tube is knurled, and the fin's foot is seamlessly integrated with the knurling, creating a tight bond for improved thermal performance.
When the correct fin strip is used, each fin abuts the next, eliminating any gaps and enhancing protection. This design effectively shields the tube from corrosion, prolonging its lifespan. Similar to L fins, these fins are secured at each end to prevent unwinding, ensuring reliability. In metal-involved applications, KL-Foot tension wound finned tubes offer unmatched performance.
