KL Footed Fin / Knurled L Footed Fin
The KL fin is commonly referred to as the knurled L fin. Similar to the Wrap-On fin, this finned tube is crafted using both Wrap-On and Embedded techniques. Crafted from strips shaped into an L, these fins are then rolled into a taper creating a curling effect. Fins are helically wound onto the tube in a seamless loop under tension. The fin tightly embraces the tube. A spinning tool knurls the base tube, integrating the fin's foot into the knurling, ensuring a snug fit and enhanced thermal efficiency.
The fin's foot aligns with the subsequent fin, eliminating gaps between fins. This configuration provides exceptional protection against corrosion for the tube. Similar to L fins, the fins are secured at each end to prevent unwinding. KL-Foot tension wound finned tubes are predominantly used in metal-related applications.
